An adhesive is a chemicular material used for fastening two other materials together by means of surface attachments. The terms like glue and  cement are synonymous of the term adhesive. In a generic sense, the word adhesive means and  implies any natural or artificial chemicular material capable of bonding together  by surface attachment.  It includes inorganic materials such as portland cement. Thus adhesive means the set of materials composed of organic compounds, which can be used to fasten two materials together by surfaces.
